MWC 2018: Lenovo™ unveils smart new technologies that are changing everything from devices to data centers

Lenovo presented at MWC 2018 the company's vision for technology innovation in 2018, with augmented intelligence (AI) at its core.

With the PC segment at its core, Lenovo has created one of the most comprehensive collections of AI devices that offer the unique advantage of delivering the three key elements of intelligence: data, computing power, and algorithm.

With the help of new AR, VR and voice-activated technologies presented at the event, Lenovo devices offer new options for work, entertainment and lifestyle. From the new Yoga™ voice-activated 2-in-1 laptops launched today, to Moto Mods that can truly transform a smartphone, to advanced data center solutions, Lenovo offers all the important options for human interaction with AI.

A different smartphone experience
At MWC, Motorola is showing how it continues to challenge the industry with smartphones with premium features at great value prices, and how it continues the brand's tradition of innovation with a series of revolutionary Moto Mods that allow users to monitor, among other things, their health status. The Motorola Health Mod allows you to easily monitor five vital signs, including accurate systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings, all from your moto z smartphone.

Motorola also presents key insights into the recently launched global "Phone-Life Balance" study, which it developed in partnership with Dr. Nancy Etcoff, a renowned expert in neuroscience and the science of happiness at Harvard. The study identifies a number of problematic behaviors that impact on relationships with others and with ourselves, and demonstrates how people tend to place more importance on phones than people close to them. The most important findings of the research sound the alarm about the younger generations who have grown up in a digital world.

Motorola believes that technology should enrich our lives, not distract us, and that's why we offer smart solutions to help people balance the role their phone plays in their lives. These include a partnership with SPACE, an app that helps users be more aware of how they use their phone, and Moto Experiences, which provides more intuitive mobile interactions.

A different approach to voice control
Lenovo's PC and Smart Devices Division (PCSD) is developing a series of new products dedicated to transforming the consumer and business experience with augmented intelligence.

At MWC, Lenovo is launching the new Yoga 730 (in 13-inch and 15-inch variants) and the new 14-inch Yoga 530, the latest devices to complete its 2-in-1 laptop lineup designed for the mobile generation. The new Windows 10 convertibles offer the modern design, high laptop performance and increased tablet portability that have established Lenovo Yoga as an iconic premium brand since the launch of the first convertible. The new Yoga 730 harnesses the power of AI to provide intelligent hands-free assistance. Available with both Cortana and Alexa, it offers more options and recognizes voice commands from across the room.

The new trio of shock-resistant Lenovo Chromebook 500e, 300e 2-in-1 and 100e laptops, specially designed for educational activities, is now available in the market. In addition to the special design intended to protect the device against liquids and shocks, the Chromebook 300e integrates Lenovo Enhanced Touch technology that allows the use of everyday objects to interact with the screen, while the Chromebook 500e offers an EMR™ pen based on innovative Google algorithms ® for almost lag-free use when writing and drawing.

A smart home

For a smarter home, the new Lenovo Smart Display announced at CES 2018 makes using technology at home more comfortable, intuitive and easy to share. It combines the voice command capabilities of Google Assistant™ with a vibrant full HD touchscreen.2 The screen, intended to become the command center for all smart devices in the home, from lighting to heating systems and more, can be controlled by voice or by a quick glance at the screen.

A different way to experience reality
Lenovo shows how augmented intelligence continues to make its devices more different and more immersive. Also launched at CES 2018, the Lenovo Mirage™ Solo standalone VR headset and Lenovo Mirage Camera VR180 enable the creation and consumption of your own VR content using Daydream™, Google's mobile VR platform. At the same time, Star Wars™: Jedi Challenges, comprised of the Lenovo Mirage AR set and Lightsaber controller, pushes the boundaries of what is possible and allows fans to experience Jedi training in AR.

A different way to make the world better
Lenovo Data Center Group continues to support the smart revolution by expanding into two new segments in telecommunications and IoT.

As innovations in mobile and smart devices develop rapidly, the telecommunications industry is undergoing massive changes with the deployment of 5G networks. Lenovo is uniquely positioned to revolutionize traditional telecommunications infrastructure and provide a smooth transition for communications service providers to the software-defined world.

Lenovo is launching a performance-optimized offering based on ThinkSystem SR650/SR630 servers and switches, the Red Hat OpenStack platform, and Mellanox ConnectX-4 NICs for accelerated data packet processing. Moreover, Lenovo joins the "Intel Select Solution for NFV" program and offers a specially optimized encryption and compression solution based on NFV workloads. The solution includes Intel QuickAssist (QAT) and Intel XXV710 NIC technologies integrated into the Lenovo SR650/SR630 servers.

Capitalizing on its leadership in x86 server reliability, Lenovo also introduces the first 5G base station with software and virtualized implementations of centralized and distributed units (CU/DU), made possible by a collaboration with China Mobile focused on customer needs.

Demonstrations of Lenovo's "device-to-data center" solutions can be seen at Mobile World Congress, which takes place in Barcelona from February 26 to March 1. Lenovo is also showing a "5G network self-optimization" solution based on Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 servers at the Intel booth.
