Lenovo announced the achievement of 42 new global benchmark records for the ThinkSystem portfolio, powered by the latest Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors. The ThinkSystem portfolio of solutions is designed to help customers reduce complexity and tackle the most demanding workloads.
The new ThinkSystem portfolio brings together the industry’s best-in-class systems under a single brand that includes servers, storage and networking. The ThinkSystem portfolio can adapt to changing IT needs while reducing the complexity and costs of traditional IT systems. Lenovo’s latest server portfolio includes 14 highly configurable servers, offered in rack and tower form factors, mission-critical, dense and blade platforms, as well as new hyperscale systems. This enables customers to simplify their IT infrastructure, leading to a high level of service for data center operations that directly impacts business growth. Moreover, customers do not need to worry about incompatibility between different technologies or the inability to scale technology as workloads change. Lenovo designed the ThinkSystem portfolio to be compatible with the equipment in which organizations have already invested, without requiring a complete data center redesign.

Unleashed Performance: ThinkSystem Ranks First in 42 Performance Benchmarks
In addition to reducing complexity and streamlining operations, customers increasingly want to get better returns on their investments and have more confidence that their technology partner will deliver the performance and availability needed to run demanding and evolving workloads, such as Microsoft SQL Server. Building on Lenovo’s long-standing reputation as a leading x86 server provider for reliability and customer satisfaction, Lenovo’s new ThinkSystem servers have achieved 42 world records for performance.
The TPC-E benchmark uses a database to model a brokerage firm with clients generating trades, account inquiries, and market research. Lenovo is the first company to break the $100 USD/transaction per second per E (tpsE) benchmark set by TPC-E, with $93.48 USD/tpsE2 and 16% below the previous low of $111.65 USD/tpsE3. In addition to achieving the lowest $USD/tpsE, Lenovo also had the best TPC-E performance of any 2-socket system at 6,598.36 tpsE2. This benchmark shows how customers can reduce their overall costs while still achieving the performance needed to process their own customers’ transactions. In addition to the SR650’s TPC-E world record, Lenovo also achieved a TPC-H world record for the SR950. The TPC H™ Benchmark (TPC-H) is a decision support benchmark. This benchmark illustrates decision support systems that examine large volumes of data, execute highly complex queries, and answer critical business questions. Lenovo has posted the best-ever performance result for the unclustered TPC-H™ benchmark at a scale of 10,000GB. The ThinkSystem SR950 server achieved the following score: 1,336,109.6 QphH™ @10,000GB (Requests per Hour H) at $0.92 USD / QphH @10,000GB.
Lenovo also enjoyed success in supporting financial market customers, delivering 26 leadership STAC-M3 benchmarks for the ThinkSystem SR950 and ThinkSystem SR650 servers. The STAC-M3 benchmarks measure demanding time-series analytics workloads. The ThinkSystem SR950 system set world records on 9 of the 15 mandatory benchmarks, as well as two of the optional STAC-M3 'big-memory' Shasta benchmarks. One of these results was nearly double the previous STAC-M3 Shasta benchmark scores.
The ThinkSystem SR650 server also set world records in 15 out of 17 benchmarks for average response time running the Antuco STAC-M3 suite, compared to previously published results for single-node 2-socket servers running the Kx kdb+ database systems. STAC-M3 benchmark reports for the SR950 and SR650 servers are publicly available. The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 server set a new world record for single-node 2-socket performance on the SPECmpiM_base2007 parameter in the MPI M2007 suite of the SPEC MPI 2007 Benchmark.
Additionally, Lenovo set world records by becoming a leader in the SPECvirt_sc2013 5 benchmarks for the 2-socket server and SPECjbb2015 for the 1, 2, 4, and 8-socket servers. These Lenovo world-record benchmark results demonstrate the company’s commitment to delivering the performance customers expect from their server investments, while also providing flexible systems with high reliability.

Lenovo joins the Intel® Select
Lenovo also announced its participation in the Intel Select Program, a new set of Intel-branded solutions powered by Intel® Xeon® Skylake-SP processors that address the complex workloads facing today’s data centers. They ensure customers receive an industry-standard solution while simplifying and accelerating the process of selecting, deploying and optimizing data center infrastructure to run specific workloads. The Lenovo Validated Concept for VMWare vSAN and the Lenovo Validated Concepts for Microsoft SQL Server OLTP High-Performance Server will be available starting in October 2017.

Alexa turns other devices into smarter products, now available on Lenovo tablets. The Tab 4 series, dedicated to families, has become even more versatile thanks to the Alexa-enabled Home Assistant package. Voice commands can be used to access news platforms, weather information or calendar information from the tablet. Users can also do more using voice commands alone: shop online, play music or control other smart devices in the home. Thus, the 10-inch or 8-inch tablet provides all the information users need.
The Home Assistant Pack equips the Tab 4 with the Home Assistant app, a powerful three-watt speaker and remote voice detection thanks to two microphones, allowing you to use voice commands and listen to the results from a distance of three meters in any direction.
